3D Sugar Printer
In August of 2016, the world-renowned Architectural Association’s School of Architecture held an 11-day robot workshop themed Sugar and Post-modern Landscape in Hong Kong. During this workshop, Victor Leung, a MIT graduate whose research focus has been on experimental architectural studies, led a group of students to invent a 3D printer using sugar as material. Participants not only learned to produce artworks with this sugar-based 3D printer, but also acquired related knowledge about CNC machines, 3D printing, and robotics. After Victor’s project ended, his whole team held an exhibition at the Hong Kong Osage Gallery, presenting their sugar-based art work.
